Privacy and cookies

Last updated 1 September 2026.

Hot Streak is built to collect as little information as possible. This page explains what the site stores, how that information is used, and how advertising services may process information in your browser.

The cookie that remembers your streak

You can start playing without an account, so the site needs a way to recognise your game progress on a later visit. On your first visit the site sets one cookie, dg_pid, containing a random identifier and a signature that proves the identifier came from this site. It is not derived from personal information, is readable only by the server, and lasts about 400 days unless you clear it.

Your attempts, scores and streak are stored against that identifier. Clearing the cookie creates a new player identity and a new streak. The site does not require a name or email address and has no sign-up form.

What your own browser keeps

The site remembers whether you have already seen a game's rules so the how-to-play panel does not repeatedly open over a game you already know. That preference is kept in your browser's local storage under keys beginning hs:, is not sent to the server, and is removed when you clear site data.

Ads

The site may show ads through Google AdSense. Google's advertising code runs in your browser and may set or read cookies to select and measure advertising and to manage how often ads are shown. Hot Streak does not receive access to those advertising cookies.

You can review or switch off personalised ads at Google Ad Settings and read Google's explanation of data use on sites using its products at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Server logs

Like any web server, the service sees the IP address a request arrives from. It is used for operational purposes such as rate limiting and is not stored against the player identifier for profiling.

Other tracking

Hot Streak does not currently use a separate analytics product, social-network tracking pixel or newsletter system.

Changes to this page

If the site's data practices change, this page will be updated to describe the new behaviour and the date above will be revised.
